Welp, I’m finally doing another release of Ponscripter (ponscripter-20111009).  This one takes care of a few noted issues, like lack of support for non-ASCII filenames.

I’m not sure where I want to go next with Ponscripter: there’s an awful lot of updates to port from ONScripter-EN, enough that I’m tempted to make a new fork from the ons-en source and port Ponscripter features to that, rather than the other way around ^^;

Anyway, you Ponscripter scripters out there, let me know if you have problems with this new release.  (I don’t recommend that ONScripter-EN users switch to Ponscripter for playing (o)nscripter games, as there’s still a lot of ons-en features and fixes yet to be implemented…)

Greetings!  I come bringing new ONScripter-EN (onscripter-en-20110930), now in ‘Yakisoba’ flavor! \o/

It has major changes to the build and packaging system, updates to all libraries, and that Mac OS X fullscreen bugfix that the Lion users have been waiting for.

With the new release of ONScripter-EN (onscripter-en-20110628) we’ve fixed a couple bugs in Umineko, and also added a couple new cfg options.

• Automode is now allowed in all games, but if you don’t like the default timing for a game, you can set your preferred automode wait time to 5 seconds (for example) with this line in ons.cfg:

automode-time=5000

• Some trial versions of games have a video sized smaller than the game window (e.g. the game is 800×600, but the video file original size is 640×480.)  By default, ONScripter-EN will fit the video to the window size, but if playback looks a little rough due to the upscaling, you can use this ons.cfg option to view videos without resizing:

no-movie-upscale

In other news, we’ve used Redmine to create a management site for the projects on the Corner.  It’s got an issue tracker, a rudimentary wiki, and release sets.  You can even access the source code repositories – now in Mercurial!

Though we’re still working out how we want to use the site, the issue tracking is already very helpful — feel free to report bugs there, but since it requires registration, you can still comment on the Bug Reporting page if you’d rather not.  Now there’s even more ways to let me know if I broke anything

This new release of ONScripter-EN (onscripter-en-20110413) fixes the “setCurrent” error-message bug you may have seen with Umineko.  It’s also had some changes to the script parsing to do more NScripter-accurate handling of [pretext tags].

Uncle’s got some more fixes in mind for parsing and text handling, but this should do nicely for the time being.

I made sure to test on more games than Higurashi before cutting this latest release, but of course please let me know if I broke something again

This release fixes a bug causing some programs to always run with “scale” upsizing, and adds some nifty ons.cfg/cmd-line options for handling audio settings (like if you need to tweak for certain hardware or disable DirectSound in Windows).  Take a look at the changelog for more details.

Aside from the spoils of our ongoing bughunt, the main cool thing about today’s ONScripter-EN release (onscripter-en-20110314) is that, instead of using

window-width=num

in your ons.cfg file, you can now use

scale

which will render a game at the maximum size possible for your screen, while preserving the 4:3 aspect ratio.  Also, scaling routines now use floating-point to calculate sizes & positions, so images should be drawn a bit more accurately.

Today’s ONScripter-EN release (onscripter-en-20110305) has a number of bugfixes that we hope will quash some annoying uninitialized variables and memory leaks; it also includes support for Layer effects and additive & subtracting blending in 16-bit per pixel builds (except for the “oldmovie” effect).

A warning for Umineko users: due to a change in how ons-en handles alpha PNGs by default, current Witch-Hunt patches will display some images incorrectly (mostly Character text in the TIPs menu).  If you experience this problem, add the following line to your ons.cfg file:

detect-png-nscmask

We’re working with Witch-Hunt to make sure this issue is corrected in future patches.  Meanwhile, don’t hesitate to let us know of any bugs you may encounter!
